Summer 2024: The Oracle’s Compass

Intro to The Oracle’s Compass

The way of the Oracle utilizes the Compass method for sacred story telling. It is formula that I use not only for oracle readings, but also when I am developing characters in my writing projects. Together we’re going to learn about the power of the oracle’s compass and by September 1st you will have strengthened, attuned. and integrated your inner oracle!

Truth be told, I learned this method years ago with Lynn Andrews writing school. What I realized was, as I was writing everything from book projects to oracle readings, the wheel helped me with every facet of character development and story- telling. The sacred compass is about the recipient’s deep trust of your the reader to tell the story. It’s an important part of responsible story telling, and we can not take this on lightly. Whether we are speaking about a fictional character or a potential client, we must approach the wisdom of the oracle with the utmost respect. They are entrusting us with the most valuable parts of themselves. It is our duty to ensure they are compassionately witnessed, even though the story itself is moving through our physical (or metaphysical) voice.

Writer’s, Artists, and aspiring oracles are all tapping into the same energetic field in order to access these stories. Anyone in pursuit of becoming a story- teller will begin by “reading” other people. This is a natural part of the progression. How we implement this will vary from member to member, but we all start by attempting to tap into the stories others have buried deep within themselves. The way we strengthen that skill-set is by practicing with our oracle’s wheel and developing our relationship with the 5 points of the compass. We must lean into and rely on the compass to guide the flow of the reading.

One of my absolute favorite aspects of any artistic endeavor is story- telling. The wind tells a story to the trees. The trees tell their stories to the birds. The birds sing to the stars…. The stars dot the cosmos and beyond. Even the worn down vanity that holds your grandmothers 100 year old Tiffany lamp has a story to tell. Everyone has a story. Everyone deserves a chance to have that story received in truth and heard with open minds and willing hearts.

Over the years, many people from clients to friends have told me it is through our conversations they come to find themselves at a deeper more intimate level. That’s because I am constantly living into and speaking from the wisdom of the compass. I ensure the person I am connected to their words. This helps them feel anchored as we dance along the points of the wheel. Together we gently address the complex levels of their experiences. People who feel safe to share their story say they can not feel or know or process the information any other way and feel a sense of healing through these types of conversations. I attribute the healing to my dedication to the compass method.

In short, I am delicate with the recipients story. People come to know information about themselves they can’t unravel any other way. You don’t need to be a write to be a good story teller but you do need to approach yourself and others with deep and profound compassion. Arm yourself with the knowing ; you can change another persons life just by bearing witness to their story. Great medicine exists for those who are gentle with stories that emerge from people’s vulnerable hearts.

In order to receive those stories, we don’t necessarily need to put pen to paper. Good stories don’t always involve writing. However good storytellers do find a channel for the art of story- telling. So whether you sing, do art, write, podcast, videos, it matters not! The goal of this summer is to release the pressure of “should be” and live into the wisdom of the inner Oracle! Sometimes we attempt to put art in boxes but a true measure of success is adaptation to the medium. Where as you may have once felt called to writing a book, that may change to poetry. Or if you sing, and now you want to host an audio blog… allow yourself permission to explore a variety of artistic outlets.

Story telling is in our DNA. It is passed down through generations. GOOD story- tellers know there is healing in ‘the voice’. When we give the muse an opportunity to move through us we can speak through the words of the universal soul song. We can expand beyond our body into the heart- mind of a Higher Power. When we stop trying to control the narrative; we can see, hear, and feel the information differently. We allow that to flow through us, out into the world. Those who need the medicine will come. They will listen because you will speak as they call their broken, lost, or confused parts home.

As someone who has spent a decade learning how to communicate with the muse, I feel there is something here for everyone. Whether you are embarking on a writing journey or a master story- teller. Whether you possess psychic skill-sets or are trying for the very first time you will find something here. A fresh perspective, a refined artistic process, an enhanced vision, a developmental building block to level up your work. However you came here and whatever it is you’re seeking you’ll find it here as we spend the summer studying, the oracle’s compass.

So what is the Oracle’s compass? We will go over each realm of the wheel in detail throughout this summer. But a brief overview of the compass begins with the inner and outer realms at the center which represents the persons selfhood and how the present themselves to the outer world versus who they feel they are on the inside. This also includes the sensory and somatic experiences of the individuals. From there, we move to the South or the physical realm. This is the person’s day to day walking life. The mundane world and how they engage with those around them. Then we have the winds of the West or the emotional world which represents our feeling state, the position of the North; spiritual realm or the recipient’s guiding ones and finally the winds of the East. The East represents the short term outcome or intellect of our character. This is a very brief over view of the compass and I can’t wait to explore each area in depth with you. Without further adu, let’s jump into lesson 1, the art of channeling the muse.

Note: Feel free to review the writer’s wheel posted in the community section. Print it out if you feel called to, write it down scribble on it! Take what you need from it and leave the rest!
